Local Roots, An Opportunity.

We are a small charity organisation whose focus is the future of our community. We strive to help the children and young people of Powys foster a love for nature and the place they live. We focus on supporting the development of resilient, confident and creative learners by offering learner-centered processes and rich play environments. As well as giving our young people the opportunity to really explore and appreciate our natural world.

 

At Local Roots we believe that getting to know each child and finding out their strengths and interests is the best we can support them in all that they do. We work on a Forest School ethos of free choice and setting small achieveable tasks. We aim to build self-esteem, confidence, problem solving skills and initiative.

 

Through attending regular sessions on a weekly basis we can promote the holistic development of everyone involved. Fostering confident, resilient and creative learners.

 

We believe that an alternative environment can support those in schools, playgroups and home education alike. We take special care to support those who may struggle in certain learning environments by following their interests and playing on their strengths to create a community for being, development and learning.
